Beer Fundamentals: A New Series for the "Brewbie" →
These articles are not intended to be meticulous in their technical accuracy, and they are not exhaustive. This is by design. For those who know beer well, it becomes apparent very quickly that a comprehensive examination of a topic like Beer Styles, for example, can quickly reach book-length proportions. I’m not writing such a book … those with a lot more beer brains that I have...

The Perfect Martini →
First a note about substituting ingredients or tools. Don’t. This method has been exhaustively tested and retested for excellence and the smallest variation can result in catastrophic and unintended consequences. See the “butterfly flaps its wings and causes hurricane” metaphor from Chaos Theory. There is room for personal preference and improvisation in many things. This is not...

Gentrification With Justice - byFaith Online →
Gentrification with justice - that’s what is needed to restore health to our urban neighborhoods. Needed are gentry with vision who have compassionate hearts as well as real estate acumen. Molson Coors Merges with SABMiller to form... →
Interesting article about the Coors/Miller merger. I think the most interesting part though, is how this merger can almost be seen as a microcosm of the economy. Industries become dominated by huge multi-national conglomerates which have a hard time fostering a relationship with the average person. Sooner or later, that person either a) becomes interested in quality over quantity or b) finds a...

Obama Emphasizes His Christian Faith In S.C. -... →
I do agree with Obama on many fronts, but the thing that really struck me about this post is the last paragraph: Pastor Ron encouraged his members to embrace and be kind to all visitors, despite any differences that might exist with them. His welcome stretched all the way to the media in the back pew, who stopped their frenetic typing to receive hellos and handshakes from the congregants.
